Cheap Garden Furniture - Is It Really a Saving?

The time of year has arrived when our thoughts are turning to spending time out in the garden.  However, last year's cheap garden furniture has deteriorated so much that you wouldn't want to sit on it again.  So, a lesson to be learnt there - is cheap garden furniture really cheap?  Not if you need to replace it every year, it's not.When choosing garden furniture, you need to think about what material it's made from.

Plastic may appear to be long lasting but in a very hot sunny climate, the plastic can become brittle and suddenly you'll find that the leg of your plastic chair has snapped off and deposited you on the floor - most embarrassing!  In a wet climate, the plastic stains and what was once white is no more.

Rattan and cane are attractive but the genuine article certainly can't be left out in the rain, although there are now some weather resistant varieties.  However, you can now buy synthetic rattan furniture which is far more durable.

Bear in mind that cheap garden furniture just won't last and if you possibly can, opt for something a little more expensive.

You can find patio furniture anywhere, but cheap patio furniture is another matter. It's particularly hard if you want some quality, not stuff that will fall apart when you look at it.

With the internet, all this becomes much easier. Try just putting in a search for "cheap patio furniture" and about 28,000 pages come up on Google. Of course some of them are saying that you will be better off buying their patio furniture than cheap patio furniture, but many sites claim quality as well as cheapness.

Have a good look around. Many of the sites offer free delivery if you spend, say $50, so you won't be paying that on top and you won't have to try and fit the stuff in your car.

If you can't find cheap patio furniture that's to your taste, why not make your own?

You'll need to check the prices of the raw materials. After all, there's not much point buying a load of timber to make benches only to discover that you could have bought ready made ones much more cheaply!
